Classic Trip through Morocco
Day 1 – Arrivals at Marrakech Airport
Our driver will pick you up from Marrakech airport until your arrival time and transfer you to your hotel/riad. You will have the day to relax as you explore the main square Jemaa el Fnaa and the souks.
Day 2 – Guided tour of the city of Marrakech
After breakfast at the hotel/riad, you will have a private guided tour of the Marrakech Medina with an official guide. You will see the famous Koutoubia Mosque, the Medina and its souks, and explore some of the most secrets of Marrakech: the Ali Ben Youssef Koranic school, the Saadian tombs, the Bahia Palace and the Majorelle Gardens. In the afternoon the best option is to explore the medina, approaching the square that at night is filled with storytellers, jugglers, fortune tellers, snake charmers and musicians.
Day 3 – Marrakech – Casablanca – Rabat
After breakfast this morning, we will head to Casablanca by road. 3 hours later, we will make a stop to visit the impressive Mosque of Hassan II, built in 1993 by a team of over 6000 craftsmen. Located on the banks of the city of Casablanca, it is an imposing building and one of the few mosques in Morocco that foreigners are allowed to enter. Later, we will continue to Rabat, the capital of Morocco. Check into your accommodation and we’ll explore the Imperial City of Rabat, including the Mechouar (the ramparts and walls surrounding the Royal Palace), the majestic Mausoleum of Mohammed V, the Hassan Tower and the Oudaya Kasbah overlooking the Atlantic Ocean and offering fabulous views.
Day 4 – Rabat – Chefchaouen
Today we will leave for the charming mountain town of Chefchaouen, passing through the green valleys of the Rif Mountains. Chefchaouen is famous for its bright blue painted houses and is very popular with tourists and Moroccans alike. Explore Chefchaouen, with its winding lanes and narrow alleys, home to numerous souks offering cuisine and artisan works such as woolen goods, intricate embroidery and goat cheese, all indigenous to the north and found nowhere else in Morocco. Relax in the square, visit a local farm, or take a walk in the nearby parks.
Day 5 – Chefchaouen – Volubilis – Meknes – Fes
This morning, after breakfast, we will depart for Volubilis, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and an ancient Roman settlement. Here you can admire the alleys, the gates, the monuments and the mosaic floors. The Roman ruins dating from the 2nd and 3rd centuries are considered the best preserved in Morocco. Our next stop will be in Meknes, a World Heritage Site by Unesco and one of the 4 imperial cities of Morocco. Meknes, the site of the first Arab dynasty created by Moulay Ismail and here you can visit the Medersa Bou Inania and Bab Mansour, the gateway to Moulay Ismail’s Palace. Later you will continue to Fez where you will check into your accommodation. In the afternoon the best option is to visit the medina and the souks of Fez.
Day 6 – Guided tour of the city of Fez
After breakfast, you will meet a local tour guide to explore Fez, the oldest and most sacred of the imperial cities. Your cultural and historical tour will take you through the 2000 year old living medina. A maze of narrow streets, full of markets and souks, artisans, donkeys and mules carrying their loads. Visit the Attarine and Bou Anania Medersas (Islamic universities), the Nejjarine fountain, the Moulay Idriss Mausoleum and the Karaouine Mosque. End your tour with a visit to Fez Jdid and the revered Merenid Tombs for a spectacular panoramic view of Fez.
Day 7 – Fez – Ifrane – Midelt – Erfoud – Merzouga desert
Pick up at your accommodation in Fez early in the morning and departure to the south of Morocco. You will have a stop in Ifrane, known as the Switzerland of Morocco to enjoy its beauty and take some memorable photos. After that, you will head towards Azrou to see the monkeys in the cedar forest. Continuation to Midelt for lunch in a restaurant. We will later cross the Tizi N Talghamt pass to reach Errachidia while admiring the views of the Ziz Gorges. After that, you will stop for a panoramic view of the Ziz Valley. The journey continues towards the Erg Chebbi dunes passing through Aoufous and Erfoud (the latter is famous for its fossils and dates). We continue to the captivating dunes of Erg Chebbi. These dunes are also called Merzouga dunes. Upon arrival, prepare for a camel trek for about an hour to enjoy the sunset. While on the back of your dromedary, you will continue to camp for the night in a desert camp. Dinner will be served and the night will be spent in a tent in the middle of the dunes with the music of the Sahara show. Dinner and accommodation in camp in the desert.
Day 8 – Merzouga – Rissani – Todra Gorges – Dades Valley
Wake up early in the morning to enjoy the sunrise on top of the dunes in the Sahara desert and then have your breakfast. After these beautiful moments, you will return by camel to Merzouga. We leave for Tinghir passing through Erfoud and Tinejdad. Break for lunch on the way and then we’ll continue to the Todra Gorges via Tinghir, stopping along the way to take photos and admire the views. Arrive at Todra Gorges to enjoy its wonderful views of the canyons while hiking on foot. Later, we will drive to Boumalne du Dades and stop for a panoramic view of the Dades Valley. Arrive at your accommodation and then you will have a delicious dinner. Dinner and accommodation in a hotel.
Day 9 – Dades Valley – Ouarzazate – Ait Ben Haddou – High Atlas Mountains – Marrakech
This morning after breakfast at the hotel, we will leave for Marrakech. The next site to visit is the Valley of the Roses, crossing the great palm grove of Skoura, a beautiful place to contemplate the more than 700,000 palm trees and numerous kasbahs that are built in the surroundings. In this damascened valley, roses are grown for cosmetic use, such as the prized rose water. The next stop is in Ouarzazate, also known as “The Gate of the Desert” which in the Berber language means “without noise or confusion”. Here we will see the Kasbah of Taourirt, one of the most spectacular ksars in Morocco. Stopping for a panoramic view of the Taourirt kasbah, then another photo stop near the Atlas studio and then we continue to the ksar (fortified village) of Aït Ben Haddou, where we will visit the famous Kasbah (listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1986 ). Famous films such as Gladiator, Obelix, The Mummy, The Jewel of the Nile, Sahara with Penélope Cruz, etc. have been filmed in this spectacular setting. After that, we will drive to Marrakech over the high Atlas mountains passing through the Tizi N’Tichka pass (2260 m altitude). Arrival in Marrakech and registration at your accommodation.
Day 10 – Marrakech Airport
Today the driver will come to pick you up from your accommodation in Marrakech until your departure time. He will transfer you to the Marrakech airport and this is the end of our services.
