Trip from Marrakech to the Desert

Day 1 – Marrakech – Ait Ben Haddou – Kasbah Ait Ben Haddou – Ouarzazate

Pick up from the hotel or Riad, we leave for the High Atlas crossing the port of Tizi N’Tichka (2260m) with stops to enjoy and photograph the panoramic views that the road offers us. We will visit an Argan Oil cooperative, where we discover the production process and they will explain the innumerable benefits it has for the human body. Then we will go south detouring towards the town of Ait Ben Haddou where we will visit its Kasbah (declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO) where such important films as Gladiator, the Jewel of the Nile, Lauerence of Arabia have been filmed… We will have lunch there and then We will go to Ouarzazate. Considered the gate of the great desert. Dinner and accommodation in hotel.

Day 2 – Ouarzazate – Daraa Valley – Merzouga Dunes

After breakfast we will leave for the Draa Valley, where there is one of the longest rivers in Morocco. We will make several stops to contemplate the adobe kasbahs and Berber villages of the Draa Valley and we will take a track that passes through the oasis and the villages until we visit the kasbah of Caid Ali, Tamnougalt. Then we will go to Alnif where we will have our lunch. Then we will go to the impressive dunes of Merzouga, where we will have tea and we can enjoy a bath in the camels’ pee. . We leave our suitcases and what we will not use in the desert at the hostel and we leave in a camel caravan for an hour and a half that will take us to the tents in the middle of the dunes. Then we will go up to the dunes to practice sandsurfing and watch the sunset. Dinner in the tents, with live music and a campfire, where we can dance and gaze at the stars.

Day 3 – Merzouga – Khamliya – Merzouga

We will wake up before dawn to watch the sunrise. Return by camel to the lodge, where we will shower and have breakfast. We will rest and then we will go to the town of Khamlia, which is originally from Mali, where we will have a cup of tea while they offer us a small concert of Gnawa music. Return to the hotel, we will have lunch and we will have the afternoon free. Before sunset, we drive to the highest dune to watch a romantic sunset. Later we will have dinner, and we will enjoy a Berber show with drums. Accommodation at the hotel.

Day 4 – Merzouga – Todra Gorges – Dades Valley

We leave for Rissani to visit the mausoleum of Moulay Ali chref the founder of the Alaouit dynasty and then we will go to Erfoud to visit the fossilized marble factory before continuing to Touroug to visit the ancient underground irrigation and then we will arrive at the Todra valley where we will go to have lunch and take a guided tour of the palm grove and the Jewish quarter. Then we will go to the gorges. The Todra river has formed a gorge of enormous vertical walls and of great beauty; It is a paradise for climbers and a unique place. We will walk for half an hour to calmly see the Gorges. In the afternoon we will continue towards the Dades Valley passing through Boumalne. We will arrive at the Dades Gorges with several stops to take photos. Dinner and accommodation at the Lodge.

Day 5 – Dades Valley – Skoura Palm Grove – Ouarzazate – Marrakech

After breakfast we will leave by the same path towards Boumalne Dades. After several stops we will head towards the route of the Thousand Kasbahs and the Valley of the Roses where we will stop for a coffee and to visit a rose cosmetics cooperative. Then we will go to the great palm grove of Skoura where we will stop to visit the 17th century kasbah of Amredil. Arrival in Ouarzazate where we will have our lunch and visit the Taourirt kasbah that was the former residence of the Glaoui or pasha of Marrakech. Then we will leave through the Tizi N’Tichka mountain pass with stops to take pictures of the landscape. Arrival in Marrakech around 6:00 p.m. Transfer to your Hotel or Riad.
