What to see, what to do in Morocco?
Places to visit
Every trip to Morocco is an adventure. Our neighboring country has a lot to offer you, from great imperial cities to amazing landscapes that seem from another era. Cultural trips, family trips, or relaxation, this country adapts to the demands of every traveler. So close and so different, it is a most exotic destination. The hospitality of its people will make you feel as if you were walking through your own city, while you come across a curious and different culture, influenced by the Berbers, Spanish and French, an irresistible combination. Many of its towns and cities seem like a little piece of Andalusia! These are some of the essential places that you have to see in Morocco.
Marrakech: a city that will impress you not only for its architecture but also for the way of life of its inhabitants. You cannot miss its souk, the Bahia Palace or the Koutoubia Mosque, among others. Walking around and letting yourself go without haste is the trick to being part of this unique atmosphere. This is how the narrow streets dazzle one and guide you to, for example, Jemaa el Fna Square, the heart of Marrakech. Its constant boiling makes this place beat strongly during the day and especially at night, when the garlands of lights illuminate the sky announcing music and action. From here you can make several excursions such as to the coast in Essaouira, jewel of the Moroccan Atlantic; or Ouarzazate, with its impressive orange kasbah in the middle of nowhere.
Chefchaouen: a small blue city high in the Atlas Mountains with Berber, Spanish and Sephardic influences. The color that floods everything will make you feel calm walking through its narrow streets and interacting with its inhabitants. Located in the middle of nature, you can get close to its waterfalls and walk through the valley, while the day fades and gives way to a clear sky in which you will not stop spotting shooting stars.
Tangier: this beautiful city will remind you of Andalusia and you will surely hear Spanish spoken. To visit it is to embark on a trip to the 50s full of charm and nostalgia. Tangier offers a more “western” atmosphere but without neglecting tradition, embodied in its mythical cafes with terraces facing the sea.
Sahara Desert: sleeping one night in the Sahara desert and observing the stars is one of the adventures that you must experience at least on one of your trips to Morocco. It looks like a landscape from another planet, made up simply of an immensity of dunes, camels and small camps. You are going to enjoy one of the most beautiful celestial vaults you have ever seen.
